Rāwī
A rāwī (literally 'reciter') was, in pre-Islamic Arabic tradition, a person trained in reciting oral poetry. The custom was for a rāwī to become s disciple of another poet, learning their work by heart and performing it to others.[1] A related term is rāwiya ('transmitter').
