Ritu Arya

Ritu Arya is a British actress and drummer. She first became known for her role as Dr. Megan Sharma in the British soap opera Doctors (2013–2017), for which she was nominated for a British Soap Award. She gained further recognition for her role as Flash in the series Humans (2016–2018). She made her breakthrough as Lila Pitts in the Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy (2020–present), for which she gained widespread recognition.

Early life

Arya obtained her degree from the University of Southampton and trained at the Oxford School of Drama.[1][2]

Career

Arya first received recognition for her recurring role as psychiatrist Dr. Megan Sharma in the British soap opera Doctors, which she played from 2013 to 2017. For her performance, she was nominated for a British Soap Award for Best Newcomer in 2017.[3] She guest starred in the series Sherlock in 2014, and had a recurring role as the robot Flash in the series Humans from 2016 to 2018.[4][5]

In 2019, Arya starred as Jenna in the film Last Christmas, which was a major commercial success,[6] and had a recurring role as Lava in the Netflix series Feel Good in 2020. That same year she guest starred in the series Doctor Who.[7][8] In 2020, she starred as Lila Pitts in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, which is considered to be her breakthrough role.[9] Arya is a drummer and part of the band KIN, who released their debut single "Sharing Light" in April 2020.[10] Their follow up single "L.O.V.E" premiered on 6 August 2020.[11][12]

Arya will next star in the Netflix film Red Notice, which was originally scheduled to be released on 13 November 2020 by Universal Pictures, but was later moved to Netflix.[13][14]
