Robert Contee
Robert J. Contee III is the acting Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. United States. He was appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser to replace outgoing chief Peter Newsham, effective January 2, 2021.[1]

Contee grew up in the Carver Langston neighborhood of Washington, D.C., and attended Spingarn High School.[1] He joined the Metropolitan Police Department as a cadet in 1989, while a senior in high school, and became a sworn officer in 1992.[1][2] He holds a bachelor's degree in Professional Studies with concentration in Police Science from George Washington University.[2]
