Rowan Jacobsen

Rowan Jacobsen is an American author and journalist.

Biography

Jacobsen primarily writes about the intersection of food and the environment. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Saveur, Newsweek, Harper's Magazine, Outside, Eating Well, Forbes, Popular Science, Mother Jones, Vice, The Art of Eating, and Lucky Peach.[1]

Awards and honors

He has received James Beard Awards for his book A Geography of Oysters and his Eating Well piece, "Or Not to Bee."[2] His Outside Magazine piece "Heart of Dark Chocolate" received the Lowell Thomas Award from the Society of American Travel Writers for best adventure story of the year. His Harper's piece "The Homeless Herd" was named best magazine piece of the year by the Overseas Press Club.[3]

Personal life

He lives with his wife, Mary Elder Jacobsen, and son Eric in Calais, Vermont.[4][5]
