Saaxo
Overview
Saaxo is a district on the Somali-Ethiopian border 67 km west of Galkacyo. [1]
Demographics
It is the southwestern city of Puntland and also borders the Galguduud state of Galmudug. Most of its inhabitants are from the Marehan, a sub-clan of the Darod clan.
It is one of the newest districts added, in 2014, to the autonomous state of Puntland. It is growing rapidly due to investments from outside plus large migration from cities like Abudwak Galinsoor of people who are fleeing from clan infights.
Education
Since 2010 Saaxo has experienced growth in basic education and it no longer sends its student to cities such as Abudwak and Galdogob. Saaxo primary intermediate secondary school has grown and the Puntland ministry of education has started training teachers.
Transportation

The city expects the extension to the Galdogob-Galkayo road to be completed to Saaxo by the end of 2021.
