The Serie B 4 teams competes in one group. Since 2018–19 season, it is one long tournament (playing each other home & away). Top x teams in standings at end of season will play for promotion to Liga Premier – Serie A and the stadium must met the requirements to promote as well. For 2020–21 season, Serie B will be on Hiatus due to COVID-19.

Offseason Changes
- Aguacateros CDU, Ciervos, Cuautla, Dongu, La Paz and Zitácuaro joins in Serie A as expansion teams from Serie B.
- Atlético San Francisco, Calor and Deportivo Nuevo Chimalhuacán will be on hiatus for 2020–21 season, will return the following season.
- Chapulineros de Oaxaca will decline their Serie B participation for 2020–21 season to participate in the Liga de Balompié Mexicano after one year return from hiatus.[3]
- Deportivo CAFESSA Tlajomulco, Dorados de Sinaloa Premier, Mineros de Zacatecas Premier and Real Canamy Tlayacapan have dissolved.
