Demographics
The town was in international news during 2012, because Jacintha Saldanha, a nurse working in King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes, Westminster, London apparently committed suicide because of prank calls from radio hosts pretending as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, hailed from this town and she was buried in this town.[1]
Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva
Our Lady of Health Church, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, is renowned for its Gothic architecture. The altar had beautiful Roman styled paintings, which were replaced with newer paintings during renovation.[2]
