Shugart bus
The Shugart bus is the de facto standard for floppy disk drive interfaces created by Shugart Associates. It encompasses a 50-pin interface for 8-inch disk drives, and a 34-pin for 5 1⁄4-, 3 1⁄2- and 3-inch disk drives. Shugart 50-pin and 34-pin are similar in pinout. However the 34-pin used in 5 1⁄4-inch drives is not similar to the IBM PC type 5 1⁄4-inch format. [1] [2]
