Soumitra Bannerjee
Soumitra Bannerjee (1954-8 January 2000) was an Indian actor who worked mainly in Bengali cinema.[1] He was one of the most popular actor for his negative roles in early 80s and 90s in Bengali film industry. He had worked movies like Hirak Jayanthi, Amar Prem Troyee, Guru Dakshina, IndrajIt, Pap Punya, Badnam.[2]

Early life
He was born in Damdama village, Pandua, Hooghly. He was a good singer and dancer in his childhood.
Career
Soumitra Bannerjee had begun his career at the age of eight in "Subha O Debatar Grass" in 1964. He later went on to play the role of villains in about 150 films since the early’ 80s. In 1982 he got a chance to play the lead role in the movie Troyee opposite to Debashree Roy and Mithun Chakraborty. The movie was Super hit in box office. He got limelight for this movie. After the movie, he was getting many offers by the directors. But he was casted in negative roles in many movies for his appearance. He had worked many successful films as a negative character.
Death
Soumitra Banerjee died on 8 January 2000 after protracted illness. He was 46. He was admitted to hospital on January 4 in a serious condition. His last film was "Khelaghar".[3]
