Band
The South Aiken Marching Thoroughbreds first entered competitions when director Neil Nelson began at the school in the 2015 season. Since then, the band has been to the SCBDA Lower State Marching State Semifinal competition on multiple occasions, placing highest in 2018 with a ranking of 9th 0.01 points behind 8th place, barely not qualifying for the State Marching Championship Competition. The concert band has attended the South Carolina Concert Performance Assessment (SCCPA) in the spring annually since the first assessment after founding in 1980 and has received multiple Outstanding ratings. Since the opening of the school, many students have qualified for the SC state and region 2 honors bands.
