St. Mary's Cathedral, Samarinda

The St. Mary's Cathedral [1] (Indonesian: Katedral Santa Maria) also called Samarinda Cathedral[2][3] or Paroki Katedral Samarinda is a religious building that is located in the city of Samarinda, part of the province of East Kalimantan in the east of the island of Borneo, in the Asian country of Indonesia.[4]

The temple follows the Roman or Latin rite and is the main church of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Samarinda (Archidioecesis Samarindaënsis or Keuskupan Agung Samarinda) which was raised to its current status by the Bull "Cum Ecclesia" by Pope John Paul II in 2003.

It is under the pastoral responsibility of Archbishop Justinus Harjosusanto. In this sector there are three parishes serving the faithful, besides the cathedral parish also includes St. Luke church in Temindung (Paroki Santo Lukas Temindung) and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Seberang (Paroki Hati Kudus Yesus). Additionally, the cathedral has a chapel dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul (Kapel St.Petrus-Paulus)
