Gameplay
Starleader: Assault! is a futuristic man-to-man combat module focused on ranged combat within structures,[2] and a second planned MicroGame, Starleader: Warships, covering starship combat was announced,[3] but never published.
The Starleader system was similar to Metagaming's The Fantasy Trip RPG in that characters were built around three stats and a points system was used to purchase talents; however, the two systems were not the same. Despite this, as Starleader: Assault focused on ranged combat, the game rules included a rudimentary conversion guide for adapting The Fantasy Trip or Melee's rules for handheld weapons and hand-to-hand combat.
Reception
William A. Barton reviewed Starleader: Assault! in The Space Gamer No. 61.[2] Barton commented that "In the SFRPG field, S:A just doesn't stand out enough to make it worth the effort."[2]
