Taher Sabahi

Seyed Taher Sabahi (born July 21, 1940) is an art dealer, journalist, author and lecturer born in Tehran.

Sabahi is a founding member of the Italy Merchants of Eastern Carpets Institute and has written a number of books on Eastern rugs and rug making. He is also the editor in chief of the Ghereh International Carpet & Textile Review journal which is published in Italian and English.[1] Sabahi is a member of the Board of Officers of the Persian Hand-Knotted Carpet Think Tank.[2]

Life

Born in Tehran to an Iranian Azerbaijan family, Sabahi moved to Rome in September 1961. Sabahi attended medical school in the University of Bologna's Faculty of Pharmacy. During 1972 he was recognized as an expert in Eastern (particularly Iranian) rugs and rug making.
