Biography
Taio and his brother studied karate under their father who developed his own style called Asahisa Ryuyouga.[2] Taio participated in multiple national amateur competitions. He was eliminated in two consecutive years by Tenshin Nasukawa in the All Japan Jr Kick Tournament.[3] He also engaged in the 2014 K-1 Koshien Tournament where he was eliminated in the first round by future champion Ren Hiramoto.[4]
Asahisa made his professional debut on September 9, 2014 in a one-night eight-man tournament for the J-NETWORK organization. He won three fights to capture the -55kg Next Generation Cup title.[5] On June 24, 2016 Taio made his K-1 debut on the K-1 World GP 2016 -65kg World Tournament card where he faced Haruma Saikyo. He lost the fight by majority decision.[6]
On February 2 2017, at Krush.73, Taio entered the Krush -60kg Championship Tournament and won his Quarter Final bout against Tenma Sano by unanimous decision.[7] Two months later at Krush 75 he lost in the Semi Final of the Tournament by unanimous decision after Leona Pettas inflicted the first knock down of his professional career.[8] On March 10, 2018 Asahisa travelled to China to compete in Wu Lin Feng and won his fight by decision against Shue Shenzheng. This fight served as a reserve for a -60kg World Tournament on the same card.[9] On December 8, 2018 Taio became successful in the K-1 ring for the first time at K-1 World GP 2018: K-1 Lightweight World Tournament where he beat Riku Anpo by Unanimous decision. He scored a late third round knock down to secure the win.[10]
On February 16, 2019 Taio was once again eliminated from the Krush -60kg Championship tournament by Leona Pettas in the Semi Finals. He suffered an other knock down from a flurry of punches and lost the fight by unanimous decision.[11] On March 22, 2020 at the K-1: K’Festa 3 event Asahisa fought the 62.5kg K-1 Champion Kenta Hayashi on a week notice in a non title fight.[12] Taio created the upset and won by unanimous decision. He scored a jumping switch kick knock down during round 2.[13][14] On September 22, 2020 at K-1 World GP 2020 in Osaka Asahisa defeated Hiroki by second round high kick knockout after coming back from a knockdown in the first round.[15]
Asahisa fought Hikaru Hasumi in December 2020, and won the fight by a third round knockout.[16]
