Tariro Mnangagwa

Tariro Washe Mnangagwa (born 1986), is a Zimbabwean actress.[1] She is most notable for the role in the 2020 film Gonarezhou. She is one of the daughters of current Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Personal life

She was born in 1986 in Zambia as the youngest daughter in a family with six siblings. Her father Emmerson Mnangagwa is the 3rd and current president of Zimbabwe. Her mother was Jayne Matarise where she died on 31 January 2002 of cervical cancer. Tariro has five siblings: Farai, Tasiwa, Vimbayi, Tapiwa, and Emmerson Tanaka. Later her father married Auxillia Kutyauripo and have three children: Emmerson Jr. and twins Sean and Collins.[2]

Career

Tariro obtained a Diploma in Professional Photography at Cape Town's CityVarsity. She also graduated with an Honours in Sport Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. After returning to Zimbabwe, Tariro joined with Akashinga, an all-female anti-poaching ranger unit. Then she became a member an all-female anti-poaching combat unit called the International Anti-Poaching Foundation.[3][4]

Soon after that, she was invited to play in the film Gonarezhou the co-producer of the film, Sydney Taivavashe.[5] The film is produced in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority.[6] In the film Tariro played the role 'Sergeant Onai' as well as produced the film.[7]
