Technische Hogeschool
Currently, a Technische Hogeschool (TH, Technical College) in the Netherlands is a type of educational institution for higher education, where applied sciences education is given in technical areas like for engineering, bachelor in electronics, mechanics or automotive technology. In the Dutch context colleges are assumed to educate students in a more career oriented manner. In practice or in the theory of the education politicians, this means that a BA from a TH should make you ready to start your working career at the cost of making the finished student less able to pursue a master program in research universities afterwards. Politically, this move is often discouraged as costly for society. Most technical colleges are included in a broader partnership with other colleges. A Technical College is distinct level of a Technical University.
In the past (Before 1985), the three technical universities in the Netherlands were called Technische Hogeschool (Delft, Eindhoven and Enschede.)
A similar institution in Flanders is called industriƫle hogeschool.
