The Forbidden Reel

The Forbidden Reel is a Canadian documentary film, directed by Ariel Nasr and released in 2019.[1] The film profiles the Cinema of Afghanistan through a history of the Afghan Film Organization.[2]

The film premiered in 2019 at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.[3] It had its Canadian premiere at the 2020 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival,[4] where it was named one of five winners of the festival's Audience Award, alongside the films The Walrus and the Whistleblower, 9/11 Kids, First We Eat and There's No Place Like This Place, Anyplace.[5]
