The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Tom Gormican, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten. It stars Nicolas Cage as himself, along with a supporting cast of Pedro Pascal, Sharon Horgan, Tiffany Haddish and Neil Patrick Harris.

Plot
Nicolas Cage begrudgingly accepts a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a Mexican billionaire super fan. When things take a wild turn, Nic is forced to become a version of some of his most iconic and beloved characters in order to extricate his wife and daughter from the fan who is a notorious drug lord.

Production
Development
On November 15, 2019, Lionsgate acquired Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten’s script The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, with Gormican set to direct and Etten will produce with Kevin Turen, Nicolas Cage and Mike Nilon through Saturn Films.[1]
Casting
On November 15, 2019, it was reported that Cage is set to play a fictionalised version of himself.[1] In August 2020, it was announced that Pedro Pascal was in talks to play Javi, a Nic Cage superfan who is not what he seems.[2] In September 2020, Sharon Horgan and Tiffany Haddish joined the cast of the film,[3][4] with Lily Sheen being added in October.[5] In November 2020, Neil Patrick Harris joined the cast of the film.[6]
Filming
In August 2020, principal photography was set for a fall 2020 start date,[2] officially beginning on October 5 in areas around Croatia, including the city of Dubrovnik.[7]
Release
It is scheduled to be released on March 19, 2021.[8]
