The Ythri

The Ythri is a 1975 board wargame published by Metagaming Concepts.

Gameplay

The Ythri simulates the book The People of the Wind by Poul Anderson and simulates the Terran space fleet attacking the Avalon fleet.[1]

Reception

Rick Mataka reviewed The Ythri in The Space Gamer No. 5.[2] Mataka commented that "The Ythri is a game simulation I can recommend for any gamer. For the beginner this is a game that is easy to learn. For the Veteran it is a game that can be challenging".[2]

Norman Howe reviewed The Ythri in The Space Gamer No. 6.[3] Howe commented that "The Ythri is a fine game, with great potential. It's one of the few I've seen which provides sufficient numbers of spare counters to work with. This versatility definitely outweighs any problems with the basic scenario"[3]

Tim Hawkinson reviewed The Ythri in The Space Gamer No. 7.[1] He comment that "All in all, playability is good. As the rules note, it is a good idea to make a few alterations with the rules to suit your taste. But basically, The Ythri provides a good scenario, and Metagaming Concepts should be commended for another great game."[1]

William Brogen reviewed The Ythri in The Space Gamer No. 8.[4] Brogen commented that "This is an innovative and mind-stretching game with a lot to offer, both as the basic game and as a base to build on."[4]
