"This House" is a 1990 song by American singer–songwriter Tracie Spencer. This song was the second single released from Spencer's second album, Make the Difference which was also released in 1990. Released on the Capitol Records label, the single was released on November 7, 1990.

"This House" was Spencer's second consecutive top-ten hit on the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart, where it peaked at number seven. The song was her most successful single on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number three in March 1991. Outside the US, "This House" peaked at number 41 in Canada and number 26 in New Zealand, and it became a minor hit in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Background

The song was written and produced by Matt Sherrod, Paul Sherrod and Sir Spence. Additional production was done by Justin Strauss for Just Right Productions. The song was mastered by Eddy Schreyer at Future Disc. The theme touches upon the issue of poverty and giving to one another. The single was also given a 12"/maxi-single release including a vocal mix, 7" mix, and ambient dub by Justin Strauss and a LP version, radio edit, and instrumental version mix by Matt and Paul Sherrod.
