Incident
On 2 June 2019[3] the River Countess,[4] moored at the San Basilio Terminal in Venice (Italy), was hit by MSC Opera.
Four people were slightly injured.[5] The ship had freeboard bow and stern damage.[6]
On 4 June, Uniworld programmed necessary repairs, planning service return for July 21.[7][8]
On 17 June the ship is towed from the S. Basilio Terminal[9] to the nearby port of Marghera, were she will go placed over a semi-submersible heavy-lift ship, and so moved to shipyard in Trieste for full repair.[10][11] On 20 June River Countess is at Trieste shipyard,[12] transported by the Heavy Load Carrier "Yacht Express".[13]
After thorough inspection of the damage on shipyard site, it was determined that it was more extensive than originally thought and will take longer to be repaired; on 26 June the return in service were then posposed to September 6 (begin of cruise on September 8).[14][15] River Countess returned to service, in Venice area, on Sunday 8 September 2019.[16]
