Critical response

Us Kids has an 86% rating on film review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.[2] Critics praise Us Kids for handling a difficult and sensitive subject matter (gun violence) carefully and optimistically.[3] Us Kids also captures how youth are getting involved with political activism.[4][5] Aguilar at the LA Times writes, "“Us Kids” is indispensable viewing for anyone who genuinely cares about the future of this country beyond “thoughts and prayers.”" [6] Gyarke at the NY Times writes, "“Us Kids” skillfully handles a sensitive subject and prudently connects the Parkland students’ stories to those of Black students whose experiences with gun violence rarely garner similar national attention."[7]
