VOSS Solutions was established in 2003 and headquartered in Richardson, Texas, with additional offices in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom and Cape Town, South Africa.[1][2][3] The company was co-founded by Henry Barton, Christopher May, Derek Lipscombe and Stefan Peters in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom.[3][4][8] Lipscombe is a director of VOSS Solutions, Barton is the vice-president of strategy, Peters is the vice-president of sales and May is the vice-president of business development. The company's chief executive officer (CEO) is Michael Frayne.[2][3][9] May and Frayne usually contribute to Cisco Telephony Tribune, an independent report on the Cisco telephony market published by Telecom Reseller.[10][11][12][13]
VOSS became Cisco System's market partner in 2005 for the service provider managed services market and is the UC management platform in Cisco's Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS).[14][15][16][17][18]
The company is a past winner of the Total Telecom World Vendor Awards.[19][9][20][8] It is a past finalist of the UBM Tech Best of Enterprise Connect,[21][22] the European Tech Tour UK & Ireland Tech Tour,[23] the Lead411 Tech 200,[1][24][25][26] The Sunday Times Tech Track 100[2][27] and the Clearwater Cloudex 20:20.[28][29]
The company raised funding from investors in 2008 and 2011.[2][30] VOSS Solutions' $12m series B funding round in 2008 was spearheaded by Eden Ventures and XAnge Private Equity.[30] The first phase of the company's $10m series C funding round in 2011 was led by Intel Capital, and included investment from existing investors Eden Ventures and XAnge Private Equity.[30][31][32][33][34] Vodafone Ventures led the second phase of the series C funding round, acquiring an 8% stake.[2][34]
Products and services
VOSS Solutions is a developer of unified communications and collaboration service delivery and management software, with a focus on highly agile service orchestration.[2][5][35] It is a provider of unified communications and collaboration middleware.[36][37] The company is also a developer of SIP Trunking and SIP Application Server solutions.[38][39] It has developed a number of unified communications and collaboration tools, including Unified Communications Business Analytics Solution (UC-BAS) and VOSS Migration Services, previously called Unified Communications On-Boarding Toolset (UC-OBT) or User Deployment Service.[36][40][41][42][43][44][45] Its core product is the VOSS-4-UC service delivery platform.[4]
MiGR8-2-UC
The VOSS MiGR8-2-UC enables mass UC migrations to be automated. VOSS is a developer of incorporating big data analytics within the UC migration process to extract transform and load UC configuration data with a highly repetitive, batch-driven approach. It is designed to work with Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS).[43][44]
VOSS-4-UC
VOSS-4-UC is a real-time automated unified communications and collaboration service delivery platform.[4][5][35] It is a policy based platform that supports centralised creation and management of unified communications services and applications.[5] VOSS works in multi-vendor and hybrid environments, and it supports both private and public cloud.[35][46] It is designed to provide management and provisioning of unified communications and collaboration services for large enterprises and service providers or telecommunication networks.[16][47]
The VOSS platform is integrated in Cisco HCS where it is called Cisco Unified Communications Domain Manager (UCDM).[14][15][16] VOSS has web services application programming interfaces (APIs) available to third-party developers.[4] Features of VOSS include Web-based Administration, Centralised Management, Collaboration Lifecycle Management, Collaboration Service Management, Business Process Layer on top Network Infrastructure and Communications Architectures Management.[6]
A modular version of the VOSS unified communications and collaboration management suite called VOSS-4-UC which enables clients to apply specific module without having to deploy the entire management suite was released in September 2013.[7]
Affiliations
The VOSS service delivery platform is deployed in many enterprise and service providers or telecommunication networks, including Inteliquent,[14] Lattelecom,[16] and Qwest.[48] BT partnered with Cisco and VOSS Solutions to deploy cloud-based unified communications and collaboration services for the 2012 London Olympics.[49]
In 2014, UCStrategies[50] launched a new product category called Business Communications Operations Management (BCOM).[51][36][40][41][42][52] The company entered into a strategic alliance with Soft-ex,[53] a division of WidePoint in 2015. Soft-ex collects call data records and inventory records to provide companies with telecom data intelligence.
