History
This train service was introduced in 2018, mainly for the convenience of government employees commuting between Vijayawada and Hyderabad (and its twin city, Secunderabad). The Lingampally-Vijayawada Intercity SF Express was flagged off to a start on 20 June 2016 by Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as the first-ever non-stop train between Guntur and Secunderabad. It is known as a Superfast Train in the Indian Railways Classification list, with an average speed of 73 kilometres per hour (45 mph).
The train route initially originated from Secunderabad but was later extended up to Lingampally in Hyderabad with only one stop (Guntur) between Secunderabad and Vijayawada. As of May 2020, this route has six stops, including the origin and terminus. The train is the only non-stop service between Secunderabad and Guntur with a travel time of approximately four hours. [2]
