The women's tournament of water polo at the 2000 Summer Olympics at Sydney, Australia, began on September 16 and ended on September 23, 2000.[1] Games were held at the Ryde Aquatic Centre and the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre.

Australia won the gold medal by defeating the United States 4–3 in the final. Russia captured bronze, beating the Netherlands 4–3.
