Yuko Suzuhana

Yuko Suzuhana (鈴華ゆう子) (Japanese pronunciation: [jɯ̟ːko̞ sɨᵝzɨᵝha̠na̠]; born 7 June)[1] is a Japanese singer, composer, pianist, and poet. She is the band leader of Wagakki Band.

Life

At the age three she started classical piano. Suzuhana started Shigin and Kenshibu at the age of five. After graduating Ibaraki Prefectural Mito Daini Senior High School, she studied at the Tokyo College of Music. After working as pianist and lecturer in a piano class, she started singing in the classical pop unit "Asty", formed with her classmates at the university.

In 2011 she won the first place in the Youth Division of the National Ginpo Concours sponsored by Columbia Records.

In February 2012 she co-founded the band Hanafugetsu, together with Kaminaga Daisuke and Ibukuro Kiyoshi. She changed her stage name to Yuko Suzahana. At this time she also played piano. In 2013 Suzuhana conceived a band that fused the traditional and modern sides of Japanese culture, leading to the formation of Wagakki Band.

In March 2017 she was appointed Ambassador Ibaraki and Ambassador Mito.

In June 2019 Suzuhana transferred her office and label from Avex Music to Universal Music.
