Zuby (rapper)

Zuby (born Nzube Olisaebuka Udezue on 19 August 1986[2]) is a British rapper, podcaster, and, author.[3] He was born in England and raised in Saudi Arabia.

Biography

Zuby was born in Luton,[4] Bedfordshire, England and grew up in Saudi Arabia.[5][6] He studied computer science[5] at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2007.[7]

In July 2008, Zuby was ordered to the ground, handcuffed, and arrested by police at gunpoint at Bournemouth railway station in Dorset, because he was mistaken for a suspect wanted in an alleged armed incident in Basingstoke.[8] The incident was described as a "shocking case of mistaken identity",[9] and he was released shortly thereafter.[2][10]

In March 2019, Zuby garnered worldwide attention by posting a video in which he claimed to have broken the British women's deadlift record of 238 kg (525 lb). Zuby claimed that he "identified as a woman whilst lifting the weight". Zuby later declared on Twitter that he "took the UK women's bench press record too".[11][12][13][14] He stated that "I don't think trans women should be allowed to compete in women's sport."[13] The clip was featured on The Joe Rogan Experience, Tucker Carlson Tonight, The Ben Shapiro Show, Piers Morgan's Good Morning Britain.

In July 2019, he was interviewed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for his opinion on race-based ticket prices to a Detroit music festival. He criticized the event organizers, telling them "You've become the very racists you claim to stand against."[15][16]

In February 2020, transgender activist Emily Gorcenski sent Zuby a tweet which said "I'm like 95% sure i'm sleeping with more women than you and this is terrible advice". Zuby responded with "Ok dude...". Zuby was suspended from Twitter for his response. [17] Joe Rogan called it "madness". [18] Zuby later released a song on the incident called OK Dude.

In August 2020, President of the United States Donald Trump retweeted a tweet from Zuby. Zuby set his name on Twitter to 'ZUBY: (Notable Exception)' and the tweet said "I've updated my Twitter username to stand in solidarity with my Black American friends, who had their blackness snatched by Joe Biden, before he proceeded to tell them they are all monolithic lemmings. #NotableException" [19]

He has been interviewed on The Joe Rogan Experience, Tucker Carlson Tonight,[20] BBC, Fox News, Sky News, The Adam Carolla Show, The Rubin Report, The Candace Owens Show, and The Ben Shapiro Show.[5][21]

Zuby has been a host of the podcast Real Talk with Zuby since 2019. He also occasionally does the paper review for Sky News.
