1872 Transvaal presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Transvaal in 1872.[1] The result was a victory for Thomas François Burgers,[2] who defeated the "Afrikanerised" Englishman William Robinson,[3] who had been supported by Paul Kruger.[4] Burgers was sworn in as President on 27 June.[5]
