1993–94 Golden State Warriors season

The 1993–94 NBA season was the Warriors' 48th season in the National Basketball Association, and their 31st in the San Francisco Bay Area.[1] The Warriors selected Anfernee Hardaway with the third pick in the 1993 NBA draft, but soon traded him to the Orlando Magic for Michigan star Chris Webber. During the offseason, the Warriors signed free agent Avery Johnson. Despite losing both Tim Hardaway and Šarūnas Marčiulionis for the entire season due to knee injuries,[2] the Warriors improved over their previous season, posting an 8-game winning streak in April to finish third in the Pacific Division with a solid 50–32 record. Webber was named Rookie of the Year averaging 17.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.2. blocks per game. Second-year star Latrell Sprewell made the All-NBA First Team, and was selected to play in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game.

However, in the first round of the playoffs, the Warriors were swept by the Phoenix Suns in three straight games. This would be their final playoff appearance until 2007. Following the season, Marčiulionis was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics, and Johnson re-signed as an unrestricted free agent with the San Antonio Spurs.
