- March to May – Flooding in South Kivu Province led to the death of 44 people, 200 were injured, while 64,000 were made homeless.[1]
- 24 May - 20 September – A series of massacres took place, carried out mostly by Islamist rebel group Allied Democratic Forces.
- 12 September – At least 50 people were killed in when landslides collapse three artisanal gold mines near Kamituga, South Kivu. Collapses killed 18 earlier this year in Maniema and Katanga.[2]
- 20 October - Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) reportedly orchestrated a prison escape from the Kangbayi prison in Beni.[3]
- 31 December – ADF rebels kill and in many cases behead 25 people in Tingwe, Beni.[4]
