A development application for the project was lodged with the Brisbane City Council in October 2015.[1][2] The application has since been approved. The University of Queensland (UQ) appealed the decision, but the Planning & Environment Court dismissed it on all counts.[3][4]
Demolition of the former office building commenced in October 2017, with construction of the footings for the new building commencing in May 2018. A tower crane for construction was installed on 9–10 June 2018.
