In fiction

At the outset of the plot of Alex Gerlis' thriller "The Best of Our Spies" a group of refugees go through Ailly-sur-Somme during the Fall of France in May 1940. It is there that the book's protagonist meets with a six year old girl, an encounter which would have wide implications in the book's plot.
