Elections

Toma was appointed on a 5 to 1 vote to serve as a Peoria council member in June 2014, when Cathy Carlat resigned to run for mayor. However, Toma was defeated in the special election in 2014.[3] He lost again in 2016.[4] His successful 2018 campaign featured endorsements from a variety of conservative Arizonans including Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, outgoing State senator Judy Burges, State Representative David Livingston, and Jeff DeWit, who served as Arizona State Treasurer and was also the COO of the Trump for President campaign. Toma was the top vote-getter in the GOP primary and again in the general election, where he received the 3rd highest vote total of any State Representative in the state (65,310).
