History
Until 1826 Bijairaghogarh was a part of another princely state known as Maihar. Maihar was divided in that year to form Bijairaghogarh as a separate state. Bijairaghogarh's independence lasted only for a brief time as it participated in the unsuccessful Indian Rebellion of 1857 during the reign of its second ruler Surju Prasad. In 1858 the state of Bijairaghogarh lapsed to the Government of India and ceased to exist as a separate polity.[1]
