Bloodshot (Choir album)
Bloodshot is the 15th studio album by Christian alternative rock band The Choir, released on June 1, 2018. This album was funded by the band's PledgeMusic campaign launched in January 2017, which also generated a remastered and reissued release of Wide-Eyed Wonder.[1] This was the first Choir album in 32 years to be produced by someone outside of the band, and their first studio release since 2005 that did not feature any contributions from guitarist Marc Byrd.

Critical reviews for Bloodshot were overwhelmingly positive, although the downbeat nature of the lyrics was consistently noted. Brian Q. Newcomb, writing for The Fire Note, remarked that Bloodshot had “engaging melodic vocals and some fun, unusual guitar sounds,” yet the album’s energy “feels especially up-tempo […] where many of the lyrics point to a darker, sadder narrative arc.”[2] Alex Caldwell from Jesus Freak Hideout agreed, writing that “Bloodshot is a heartbreaking and moving listen,” noting that, “you aren't likely to hear a heartbreaking subject like divorce treated with this level of transparency from a standpoint of faith in many places,”[3] Jerry Wilson from Cephas Hour called Bloodshot “the most straightforward album The Choir has ever recorded,” calling the songs “simpler without being simplistic: more direct, more immediately accessible.”[5]
