Counting On

Counting On (formerly Jill & Jessa: Counting On) is an American reality television show that has aired on the cable channel TLC since 2015. A spin-off show of 19 Kids and Counting, it features the Duggar family: Jessa Seewald, Jinger Vuolo, Joy-Anna Forsyth, their sixteen siblings, as well as parents Jim Bob and Michelle. The show was created in the wake of the Josh Duggar molestation controversy and subsequent cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting.[1]

The show follows the lives of the older Duggar children, with the early episodes focusing specifically on Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald. After its first season, the show expanded to include the rest of the Duggar children and their respective families.

Jim Bob and Michelle were married on July 21, 1984, and have nineteen children, eight of whom are married and one who is engaged. They have nineteen grandchildren (nine grandsons and ten granddaughters) with one more granddaughter on the way.

• Jim Bob and Michelle suffered a miscarriage with what would have been their second pregnancy on January 23, 1989, they named the baby Caleb Ryan, without knowing the gender.

• They had a second miscarriage on December 11, 2011, a daughter that they named Jubilee Shalom, at 20 weeks into the pregnancy.

• Josh and Anna suffered a miscarriage in 2010.[23]

• Josiah and Lauren suffered a miscarriage on October 4, 2018. They named their baby Asa, who was originally due June 6, 2019. They have since described Asa as a boy although they did not know the sex of the baby.[24]

• Joy and Austin suffered a miscarriage of a stillborn daughter whom they named Annabell Elise on June 26, 2019, at 20 weeks into the pregnancy.[25]

• Jinger and Jeremy suffered a miscarriage in November of 2019.[26]
