Darul Uloom Bury
Darul Uloom Al-Arabiyyah Al-Islamiyyah, better known as Darul Uloom Bury,[1] was established in 1973[2] and is the oldest Islamic seminary in the United Kingdom. Based on the Dars-e-Nizami syllabus found throughout the world, it was founded by [3] Yusuf Motala.[4]

Programme
It accepts students from the age of 12 to 23, providing a secondary school education for younger students as well as Islamic education to an advanced level.[5]
History
In 2015 Ofsted highlighted the Darul Uloom Al Arabiya Al Islamiya as a good example of a school "promoting British values, preventing radicalisation and protecting children".[6]
- "The aim of the school is to produce talented individuals who play a positive role in their communities and become exemplary British citizens. Leaders regularly review the excellent quality of learning activities on offer to ensure that these best prepare students for their future economic well-being and for life in modern Britain. Students develop high levels of appreciation and respect for different cultures, traditions and customs. For example, religious education includes good attention to developing students’ understanding of major world faiths. Pupils are given a broad general knowledge of public institutions and services in England and are taught to respect the civil and criminal law. Students respond very quickly to the school’s high expectations regarding behaviour and blossom into caring young citizens who want to take their place in modern Britain. The distribution of Christmas cards in the community promotes the development of strong community relations."[6]
