Background
The Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India determined in 2016 that all future bilateral tours of their sides shall be contested over the Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy. The naming of the series has, much like other named series, helped to offer Test series between the two nations an emotional and auspicious feeling.
The first Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy was contested as a single-match series in February 2017. India emerged as the victor, with Indian captain Virat Kohli top-scoring and claiming the man of the series award.
The second Ganguly–Durjoy trophy consisting 2 tests were played in November 2019. Alongside that Bangladesh played three T20Is. This was the first time Bangladesh played multiple matches in different formats in a bi-lateral series in India.[6]
