Gerald Poe

Rev. Gerald Frederick Poe, Jr. (born 1969) is an American minister, technology executive, musician and musical producer. On January 1, 2012, he became the first African-American to be elected Worshipful Master of an AF & AM Masonic Lodge in the United States, under the authority of the Grand Lodge of Maryland.

He was installed as Worshipful Master of Patuxent Lodge No. 218 of Maryland, under the authority of the Grand Lodge of Maryland.

Poe is an ordained minister, and head pastor of Defender of the Faith Ministries, a non-denominational Christian ministry and missionary organization. Poe was part of the first responding missionary and medical relief team to arrive in Leogane, Haiti, after the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Poe is also the associate pastor of Upon this Rock Ministries.

Poe is lead executive partner of Focus Unmanned Aerial Systems, an enterprise-grade drone and aviation firm. He also owns Advanced Technology Integrators, which he owns with his wife and father Gerald F. Poe, Sr.. He also serves as VP and chief technology officer for GothamJungle, LLC. Poe is a consultant for team building and stress management in the telecommunications, broadcast and recording industries.

Poe was previously a senior director of international network engineering and operations for Masergy Communications and Teligent, where he was a President's Circle Award Winner. He oversaw over 50 Million in corporate spending and was part of the team that took Teligent Communications to over $100 a share on the stock exchange.

Poe served as a technology consultant for The Million Man March. co-designing and engineering satellite, video and audio. He also assisted with the NOI Savior's Day, the NAACP National Convention, National Black Baptist Convention, The African-American Leadership Summit, and Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly's DC Statehood Concert Extravaganza.

Poe is also a musician/producer, and has musical/production works with Polygram, Jive, Polydor and Island Records. In the 1990s, he wrote and produced the song "The Moment" on the album Moments by musical group LaDae (Polydor Records, 1994). Poe also wrote and produced the "Froggy Style" Remix for group Nuttin' Nyce (Jive Records). Poe has/had other business ventures with Atlanta, Georgia-based company Xperienc, Inc and Executive Decision Media Group. Xperienc Inc. (www.xperienc.tv) allows content creators to thrive in a space where they don’t lose ownership of their works and monetize greatly. He has also been contracted with Maynes Entertainment (James Maynes), Rush Communications, Def Jam, and Universal Records.

Poe was a discus (1987) and shot put (1986) record holder in Maryland and North Carolina.

Poe is a two time honorably discharged veteran (Army Airborne)/Navy(SERE).
