Golden-spotted tree monitor

The golden-spotted tree monitor (Varanus boehmei) is a species of monitor lizard endemic to Waigeo Island in Indonesia.

Etymology

The specific name, boehmei, is in honor of German herpetologist Wolfgang Böhme.[1]

Environment

Varanus boehmei is native to the forests of Waigeo, Indonesia.

Behavior

Golden-spotted tree monitors have prehensile tails, and they spend most of their lives in trees.[2]

Description

They grow to around 1 m (3.3 ft) in total length (including tail).[2]
