According to the 2011 census, there are 5,349 inhabitants, in the following settlements:[1]
- Donji Kneginec, population 743
- Gornji Kneginec, population 1,637
- Lužan Biškupečki, population 398
- Turčin, population 931
- Varaždin Breg, population 1,640
The absolute majority of population are Croats.[2]
The municipality is home to a monument to Croatian soldiers killed by Yugoslav Partisans in World War II and it aftermath.[3]
