Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 is an upcoming racing video game developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game will be the eighth mainline installment in the Gran Turismo series.[3] The game was announced on June 11, 2020 at the PlayStation 5 reveal event[4] and is expected to be released in 2021.[5][6][7]
Gameplay
During the gameplay trailer, the game's main menu was revealed to be similar to that of the menu style of Gran Turismo 4.[7] This will be the first game in the series since Gran Turismo 6 to mark the return of the GT Simulation Mode, encompassing the long-established and definitive single player campaign feature.[8] Other classic features were shown such as the return of traditional racing tracks and vehicles, Special Events, Championships, Driving School, Tuning Parts Shop, Used Cars dealership, GT Auto while still retaining the new GT Sport Mode, Brand Central and Discover that were introduced in Gran Turismo Sport.[3]
The game will take advantage of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, Tempest Engine and dedicated ray tracing hardware to support advanced haptic feedback, 3D spatial audio and real-time ray tracing effects, enhancing the player immersion experience.[9][10][11][12] With the increased processing power and inclusion of a custom solid state drive storage in the PlayStation 5, the game will feature reduced loading times and run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second with support for high dynamic range.[13]
Development and release
Gran Turismo 7 was revealed at Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal stream on June 11, 2020.[4] The game is being developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5.[14] It is scheduled to be released in 2021.[5][15]
In an interview with GTPlanet in July 2019, the series creator Kazunori Yamauchi stated that the next Gran Turismo title is in active development.[16] Yamauchi confirmed that there will be a focus on fine tuning the classic GT experience, adding: "I think the next title that we’re going to create will be a combination of the past, present and future – a complete form of Gran Turismo."[16]
