Hideaway Bay, Queensland

Hideaway Bay is a coastal town and locality in the Whitsunday Region, Queensland, Australia.[2][3] In the 2016 census the locality of Hideaway Bay had a population of 205 people.[1]

Geography

There is a long sandy beach along the coastline with Shoal Bay (20.0775°S 148.4862°E / -20.0775; 148.4862 (Shoal Bay)) off the coast .[4][5] The locality is accessed via Hydeaway Road.[6]

The land use is residential.[6]

History

The town was officially named on 2 December 1989.[2] The locality was officially named and bounded on 28 January 2000.[3]

In the 2016 census the locality of Hideaway Bay had a population of 205 people.[1]

Education

There are no schools in Hideaway Bay. The nearest primary school is Proserpine State School in Proserpine to the south. The nearest secondary school is Prosperine State High School in Prosperine.[6] Hideaway Bay has a large Sports Park with a Synthetic Grass Tennis Court, undercover two rink bowling green and club house.[7]
