Himachal Pradesh University
Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is a public non-profit state university at Summer Hill about 5 km from the hill-station Shimla, in the vicinity of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. It is wholly financed by the government of Himachal Pradesh and the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

History
Himachal Pradesh University was established on 22 July 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.[2] The most prestigious Faculty of Law of the university came into existence on the same date, whereas other departments were made in subsequent years.
