Summary
It features interviews with and musical and dramatic performances by pianist Cecil Taylor, saxophonist Archie Shepp, trumpeter Bill Dixon and pianist Paul Bley, filmed in Toronto. [2] [3] [4]
Bill Smith was the interviewer. Supporting the above performers were musicians Art Davis (bass), Freddie Waits (drums), Kenny Werner [credited as Ken Werner] (piano), Santi Debriano [credited as Santi de Briano] (bass) and John Betsch [credited as John Betch] (drums).[5]
Reception
Jonathan Rosenbaum praised it as "may be the best documentary on free jazz that we have". [8]
