Ipswich Crown Court
Ipswich Crown Court is one of England's Crown Courts, allocated to the South Eastern Circuit. The local bar mess is that for East Anglia. It is located at 1 Russell Road (Ipswich) England. Ipswich Crown Court was part of the new build Crown Courts project in Ipswich and Cambridge. The Private finance initiative project was Designed by Austin-Smith:Lord architects, construction on both projects started in April 2002 and both were completed by November 2004. The main contractor of Ipswich Crown Court was Mowlem.[1] It was built as part of the Ipswich Village Development.
Design
The modern court house has a large glazed wall of the main hall and entrance with a folded plate cladded in stainless steel roof. Suffolk white bricks make up the white gable walls. Both crown courts were designed to be highly accessible and highly secure while achieving BREEAM standards. The design of the building is highly reflective of its plot as its location is on an island bounded by 3 roads.[2]
