Iran at the World Athletics Championships
Iran has competed at the IAAF World Athletics Championships on thirteen occasions, first in 1983 and did not send a delegation from 1985–1991, and for the 1997 championships. Its competing country code is IRI (formerly IRN). Iran's first World Championships medal was won by Ehsan Haddadi in the Discus throw in 2011. He won the bronze. The best performance of Iran's women at the championships was by Leila Rajabi, who ranked 18th at the women's shot put in 2015.[1]
