Jim Roers
James Phillip Roers (born April 21, 1952)[2] is an American politician. He is a member of the North Dakota State Senate from the 46th District, serving by appointment in 2012, and elected in 2016.[3] He is a member of the Republican party.[3]

Education and career
Jim Roers was born in Alexandria, Minnesota in 1952.[2] He earned a BS in Agriculture from North Dakota State University in 1974.[4] In 1976 he founded Roers Construction, which added the affiliate Roers Development in 1997, and later Roers Property Management.[5]
Political office
2012 appointment
Jim Roers was selected to serve as Senator for District 46 in the North Dakota Senate to complete the term of Sen. Tom Fischer,[6] who had died in office in November 2011.[7] Roers appointed term ran from April 2012 until December 2012.[3]
North Dakota Senate Election of 2016
In 2016, after his daughter Shannon Roers Jones had announced she was running to represent District 46 in the North Dakota House of Representatives, Jim Roers announced that he would seek election to the seat he had previously held.[6]

In January 2020, he and his daughter jointly announced that each would seek re-election.[9]
Personal
Jim Roers is married to Sandra Roers and they have 5 children, including Shannon Roers Jones, their oldest child. Another relative, Kristin Roers served in the North Dakota Senate at the same time,[10] having been elected in 2018 to represent District 27.[11]
