Krishnakoli

Krishnakoli (Bengali: কৃষ্ণকলিী); is a popular Bengali television soap opera that premiered on 18 June 2018 and airs from Monday to Sunday on Bengali entertainment channel Zee Bangla. It is also available on the digital platform ZEE5. It is produced by Susanta Das of Tent Cinema and stars Tiyasha Roy and Neel Bhattacharya in the lead roles.[1][2] The TV soap has been able to hold top positions in TRP charts.[3]

Plot

Shyama, who despite being dark skinned, sets out to prove that it doesn't matter what skin colour you might be. She marries Nikhil Shyama faces many problems after marriage, due to discrimination of her skin color. However, she is talented and sets out on a journey, to create an identity for herself. Shyama, a dusky girl, who believes that her complexion is akin to Lord Krishna's complexion. Her life changes after marriage wen she goes on to make a career in music. After marriage, Shyama's mother-in-law dislikes her but later in few years of time she becomes more of a daughter and allow her to sing.[4] Then, Shyama takes part in music competition where Ashok, his brother-in-law, plans to kill her but she manged to escape. Then, she fell in a river and got missing while escaping. Later, Nikhil discovers a girl looking similar like Shyama named Amropali. After that she got married to Nikhil. But after some months of their marriage, Shyama returned with help of her cousin-in-law Aditya and exposed Disha-Ashok and sent them to jail. Then, Amropali become jealous and planned to kill pregnant Shyama by kidnapping. But luckily while travelling Shyama accidentally fell on a truck and went to Benaras while Akshok mistook Amropali to be Shyama and killed her.[5]

After 18 years

Shyama and her daughter Krishna stay in Benaras but Shyama has lost her memory so she doesn't remember her past.[6] Then Nikhil and his family went to Banaras and met Krishna. They were happy with Krishna's singing. After that Krishna and Shyama came to Kolkata as Krishna would be participating in a music competition. They met Nikhil on the road and he brought them to their house. Ashok-Disha's daughter Munni and Amropali's sister Sunaina insulted them. Krishna went to the competition along with Nikhil. There Nikhil met with Radharani and Rukmini Mashi, who have now became rich and Radha's daughter Rai, who is also a participant insulted Krishna there. Then, at the New Year party, Munni decided to take revenge from Krishnaby mixing alcohol in her soft drink so that she cannot sing in the party and let everybody down which will make Nikhil throw her out of the house.[7] But then Shyama came and sang the song and everybody were shocked to see that Shyama is Krishna's mother.

Reception

The series is being first ranked for the most watched television series since the day it had premiered.[13] It fetched a TRP of 11.8 million impressions by being in top first position among other Bengali television series.[14] In week 3 of 2021, it garnered 6.476 million impressions and retained the first position.[15]
