Main characters
- Emma (エマ, Ema)

- Emma is one of the three oldest children living at Grace Field House. Like Ray and Norman, she is 11 years old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. She is identified by her ID number 63194 and known for her ample optimism as well as her capable athleticism.
- Upon discovering the truth of the orphanage, Emma teams up with Norman and Ray to escape the house. Her strong sense of selflessness insists that everyone escape together, even if most of their siblings are below 6 years old, an aim which Ray deems crazy and plain reckless.
- Norman (ノーマン, Nōman)
- Voiced by: Maaya Uchida[1] (Japanese); Jeannie Tirado[2] (English)
- Portrayed by: Rihito Itagaki
- Norman is one of the three oldest children living at Grace Field House and, like Ray and Emma, is 11 years old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. He is identified by his ID number 22194 and known for being a genius strategist and planner, as well as unbeatable at the game of tag.
- He discovers the truth of the orphanage with Emma and teams up with Ray to devise a plan to escape. While he knows leaving with every child in the house is near to impossible, his love for Emma pushes him to continue trying. As the most intelligent out of the three, he is the first to find out Ray's true identity as Isabella's spy and prepare various back-up plans and escape routes. After Ray is betrayed by Isabella, Norman is forced to be shipped before his 12th birthday, accepting his fate of inevitable death to deceive her and let the rest of the children escape. However, instead of being put down, Norman is sent to a special research facility, escaping after leads the other children held there in an uprising. Since then, he establishes a hideout for children they rescued from other facilities and prepares a plan to wipe out all demons in the world.
- Ray (レイ, Rei)

- Portrayed by: Kairi Jō
- Ray is one of the three oldest children living at Grace Field House and, like Emma and Norman, is 11 years old and consistently gets perfect scores during their daily exams. He is identified by his ID number 81194 and known for being an avid reader with high intellectual abilities, blunt skepticism and cunning.
- Being the only biological child of their caretaker who is "Mama" Isabella, he did not experience childhood amnesia, confirming his suspicions about the existence of demons and true nature of the house later when he was 6 years old. Ray becomes Isabella's spy in exchange for goods and the promise that he, Emma and Norman could live their lives to the fullest, pledging to use the remaining 6 years of his life to orchestrate a plan that would lead to his two best friends finding out the truth themselves. After a confrontation from Norman, he becomes the children's trump card just as Isabella betrays him. Although initially unwilling to accept Emma's unrealistic goal of escaping with every child, he vows to never give up on them after their escape succeeds.
Grace Field House
- Mom Isabella (マム・イザベラ, Mamu Izabera) / Mama (ママ)

- Played by: Keiko Kitagawa
- Known to the orphanage's children as their "Mom", Isabella is a 31-year-old young woman who takes care of everyone there. Prior to being installed into her current position, she was raised in a similar orphanage and had an ID number of 73584. While appearing extremely loving and affectionate to the children, she is actually very manipulative, cunning, and shows much detachment to their tragic fate.
- Sister Krone (シスター・クローネ, Shisutā Kurōne) / Sister (シスター, Shisutā)
- Voiced by: Nao Fujita[3] (Japanese); Rebeka Thomas[2] (English)
- Played by: Naomi Watanabe
- Known to the children as "Sister Krone", she is Isabella's helper who was introduced suddenly to help run the orphanage and aim to become a mom. While her current position provides her a good life, she yearns to usurp her position and become the next 'Mama' of Grace Field House. Like Isabella, she was born and raised in an orphanage, and is extremely cunning, manipulative on the inside while harbouring an affectionate and warm exterior, but her sole difference from Isabella is her intense aggression, which matches her large and intimidating physique. Originally intending to cause a scandal by helping the children almost escape and framing Isabella, she leaks information to Norman and Emma on several occasions, but is ultimately killed by Isabella and 'Grandma', who were in cahoots the whole time. Before she died, she left Norman a pen from an ally named William Minerva as a show of her last struggle against death.
- Don (ドン)
- Voiced by: Shinei Ueki[3] (Japanese); Cedric Williams[2] (English)
- Played by: Soma Santoki
- Don is one of the two second oldest children living at Grace Field House along with Gilda, and has an ID number of 16194. Unlike the quiet and calm Gilda, he is rowdy, less inclined and talkative. He and Gilda are the second-in-commands behind Emma and Ray during their escape.
- Gilda (ギルダ, Giruda)
- Voiced by: Lynn[3] (Japanese); Ryan Bartley[2] (English)
- Played by: Miyu Ando
- Gilda is the one of the two second oldest children living at Grace Field House along with Don, and has an ID number of 65194. In contrast to the latter's loud and cheerful personality, she is calm, quiet, has high observation and thinking power, but her inner surface has great strength. Together with Emma, they help take care of the younger babies at the house and they are on good terms. She is characterised for wearing rounded glasses.
- Phil (フィル, Firu)
- Voiced by: Hiyori Kono[3] (Japanese); Amber Connor[2] (English)
- Phil is a 4 year old boy, also considered the smartest out of all the 4 year olds. His ID number is 34394. It is revealed that he actually figured out something was off about the orphanage this entire time but said nothing in case his hypothesis was wrong. He leads all the children 4 and younger to stay back in the orphanage while all the children 5 and above make their escape.

- Played by: Fuga Shibazaki
- Nat is a narcissistic 9-year-old boy with an ID number of 30294 living at Grace Field House.
- Thoma (トーマ, Tōma)
- Voiced by: Mari Hino[3] (Japanese); Cristina Vee[2] (English)
- Thoma is a 7-year-old boy with an ID number of 55294 living at Grace Field House. He is best friends with Lannion and escaped the house with the rest of his siblings.
- Anna (アンナ)
- Voiced by: Ai Kayano[3] (Japanese); Brianna Knickerbocker[2] (English)
- Played by: Leilani Akimoto
- Anna is a 9-year-old girl with an ID number of 48194 living at Grace Field House. She is characterised by her blonde twin braids which she sacrificed to prevent Ray's death and allow his escape. She escaped the house with the rest of her siblings.
- Lannion (ラニオン, Ranion)
- Voiced by: Yūko Mori[3] (Japanese); Philece Sampler[2] (English)
- Lannion is 7-year-old boy with an ID number of 54294 living at Grace Field House. He is best friends with Thoma and escaped the house with the rest of his siblings.
- Conny (コニー, Konī)
- Voiced by: Ari Ozawa[3] (Japanese); Jackie Lastra[2] (English)
- Conny is an adorable 6-year-old girl with blonde hair styled into twin-tails and blue eyes with the ID number 48294. She is notable for always carrying her favourite stuffed rabbit Little Bunny around with her, and was discovered by Norman and Emma upon her death, letting them realise the truth behind the orphanage.
- Grandma (
大母様 , Guranma) - Voiced by: Mami Koyama (Japanese); Dana Hayes (English)
- "Grandma", as her title states, is one of the highest-ranking humans of all the 6 gourmet branches of Houses, or farms, one of which is Grace Field House. She considers Isabella one of her pawns and while her motives are unknown, she was previously her Mama before being upgraded to her current position.
- Leslie (レスリー)
- Leslie was an orphan residing in the Grace Field House with Isabella.
Outside World
Demons
The primary antagonists of the series, the demons consist of a variety of forms, from mindless monsters with multiple eyes who take the qualities of animals and plants they devour. Demons who eat humans take on a tall humanoid form resembling humans with Polydactyly and wear armored masks to protect their central eyes, their only truly vital organ. The ruling demons sponsor the farm system to provide them with an ready source of human flesh, which they require to remain sentient, and sometimes for the pastime of hunting humans.
- Mujika (ムジカ)
- Voiced by: Atsumi Tanezaki[4]
- Mujika is a demon living in the forest outside the Grace Field House. She has long, purple hair in braided pigtails covering parts of her horns, and wears a mask with two holes positioned vertically. She has a pale complexion and wears a bluish-white cloak. She, together with Sonju believe in a religious principle to not eat farmed humans. Mujika and Sonju were notified of the "goods" that escaped from Gracefield House, but she saved Emma and the other escapees of Grace Field House from pursuing demons. She and Sonju she taught the children basic survival skills.
- Sonju (ソンジュ)
- Voiced by: Shin'ichirō Kamio[4]
- Sonju is a demon that lives outside Grace Field House. He is a relatively tall and lean demon who wears a hood and a mask that covers his entire face which when taken off, reveals his abnormally sharp canines. He has a horn at the center of his forehead and polydactyly, with six fingers on each hand, which are entirely wrapped with a bandage and he is often seen carrying a spear.
- Sonju saved Ray from capture by his demon-hound pursuers. Sonju believes in the same religion as Mujika, hence is strongly against the practice of eating farmed humans. However, he was eager to resume eating humans once their population increased naturally. Sonju retains a stoic and composed personality, but to a certain degree was intrigued by the children and cared for their safety. He tells Emma and Ray how, following a long war, the world was divided into the Human World and the Demon World through a contract call the "Promise".
Goldy Pond
Also known as Area 08-63, Goldy Pond was originally William Minerva's base for human escapees and located underground to escape detection. It was discovered by the demons and became a secret reserve for hunting humans owned by the demon Lord Bayon. His victims are were children from the Premium Farms but sometimes also included humans poached from the outside world. Listed below are some of the human inhabitants of Goldy Pond:

- A mystery character who knows the truth about the farms and has planted hidden clues for the children to discover without alerting the Moms.
- His true name is James Ratri. He has a brother called Peter Ratri.
